Interview with MILLET PLASTICS GROUP

Interview with MILLET PLASTICS GROUP

What are the strengths of your company?

We are a family-owned company, responsive and flexible, offering customized solutions tailored to our clients’ requirements. We have recognized expertise in two areas of plastic processing (injection and extrusion blow molding) and provide our know-how in design and finishing around these core activities. This enables us to offer a wide variety of solutions, each specifically adapted to our clients’ needs.

What actions do you take for sustainable development?

We place great importance on the environment—for the well-being of the planet, our teams, and our clients.
Internally, we implement measures to reduce energy consumption, avoid waste, and recycle everything that can be recycled. Certifications such as ISO 14001, Label MORE, and Operation Clean Sweep attest to our commitment.
Moreover, in addition to our efforts that earned us a Gold Ecovadis rating, we adhere to the United Nations Global Compact program for a cleaner industry at all levels. Finally, to support our clients and markets, we provide ongoing monitoring and concrete solutions to meet the objectives imposed by current environmental challenges (production with 100% recycled materials, biomaterials, solidarity caps, etc.).

Where are your markets located (geographically)?

At our scale, we strive to produce as close as possible to demand. Our largest markets are therefore France, Belgium, the USA, and Canada.
However, we work with large international groups that require global service. As a result, we regularly deliver to all our European neighbors and to countries such as Brazil, Japan, Australia, North Africa, and more.

What is your perspective on the evolution of your profession?

Plastics is a relatively young industry compared to many others. Plastics have demonstrated how important and useful they can be in numerous fields to improve our daily lives. In the food industry, plastic packaging requires less energy to produce, preserves food better—thus reducing waste—is lighter to transport, and is recyclable.
In equipment manufacturing, plastics offer economic savings, weight reduction, and therefore energy savings (e.g., in the automotive sector). Their malleability allows for endless possibilities in shapes and colors.
Innovations are numerous today and will continue to grow tomorrow. The plastics industry is young and full of potential. It is undoubtedly a profession with a promising future.

What are your most notable innovations?

Our innovations are driven by our relationships and collaborations with clients, machine manufacturers, material suppliers, and mold makers. They do not always result in something visible to the end user.
For what is visible and recent, in 2020 we developed an HDPE bottle neck that can be paired with a linked cap produced by our partner Betapack. This is our “Déclic” neck, which creates an inseparable bottle/cap unit (no caps lost in the environment and easier recycling).
At our production sites, we have just launched a program to bring our factories into the era of Industry 4.0. Innovation also means evolving our practices.

What organizational changes are taking place in your company?

Adaptability to customer needs has always been part of our company’s DNA, and this approach requires versatility and flexibility from our staff.
The acceleration of changes, along with new technologies (referring to our Industry 4.0 initiative), has led us to implement a skills development program to support our teams through these transitions and enhance their employability and autonomy in the workplace.
